Goal of this Lesson:
Help you visualize a smart, simple way to structure your own course — using modules and lessons with embedded video + text.

Already have a course created?

Yes, please read through this lesson to get an idea of how to structure your course. If not, you should still pay attention to this lesson because it will be useful later.

🧠 Why Structure Matters

Before we dive in too deep, let’s talk structure.
A clear course layout helps your students learn better — and finish your course.
It also makes your life easier when you go to build everything using the tools I’m about to show you.

🧱 The Structure That Works

Here’s the course structure I recommend (and what this course follows):

Modules → Lessons → Content

  • Modules = Major sections of your course (topics or milestones)

  • Lessons = Short, focused teachings within each module

  • Content = Each lesson contains:

    • 📹 A video (hosted via on-site or 3rd party)

    • ✍️ Supporting text (written below or beside the video)

This layout works because:

  • It keeps things organized

  • It’s easier to build using either method (Tutor LMS or the custom CRL method)

  • Students can track their progress easily

  • Each piece of content is bite-sized and focused

🎯 Real Example (Like This Course!)

This is how my course is structured:

  • Module 1: The Foundation

    • Lesson 1.1: Welcome

    • Lesson 1.1.1: Course Structure

    • Lesson 1.2: The Tech Stack

  • Module 2: WordPress Setup

    • Lesson 2.1: Install WordPress

    • Lesson 2.2: Astra Theme Setup

Each lesson has a:

  • Video walk-through

  • Written notes or action steps

  • Optional checklist or download

You can do the same with your course — even using only free tools.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep Lessons Short and Focused

Each lesson should cover one topic.
If it starts to feel long or complex, split it up.

A great lesson is:

  • 5–10 minutes long

  • Actionable

  • Easy to follow

✅ What You’ll Build Later

Using Tutor LMS or my Custom CRL Method, you’ll be able to:

  • Group lessons into modules

  • Embed videos cleanly (with no branding)

  • Add supporting text, downloads, and progress tracking

  • Mark lessons complete as students go

And yes — you can do all of that without any paid plugins.

🔧 What to Do Now

Start thinking about your course in this structure:

  • What are your modules?

  • What lessons would go in each one?

  • What would you show in a video, and what could go in text?

You’ll build this out step-by-step with me, so no pressure — but this is how you’ll deliver your course the smart way.
