Lesson 4.5: Add a Pre-Checkout Page That Acts Like an Order Bump

Goal of this Lesson:
Use a simple pre-checkout page to present an optional add-on product (like coaching or a workbook) before the buyer reaches the checkout — mimicking the behavior of an order bump using free tools only.

🧠 What’s the Strategy?

Since FunnelKit Lite doesn’t support real order bumps, you’ll create a pre-checkout page that offers an optional add-on and lets the user:

  • Add just the course, or
  • Add the course + the bonus item to their cart with one click

This creates the same effect as an order bump — just placed earlier in the funnel.

✅ Example Scenario

Your funnel would look like this:

  1. Sales Page
Visitor clicks “Buy Now” → taken to…
  2. Pre-Checkout Bump Page (built in Elementor):
    • “Would you like to add [coaching call / workbook / bonus module] for just $19?”
    • Two buttons:
      • “Yes, Add It!” → adds both products to cart
      • “No Thanks” → just the main course goes to cart
  3. Checkout Page (FunnelKit Lite)
Clean, distraction-free checkout with whichever product(s) they selected.

🧩 Step-by-Step Instructions

🔹 Step 1: Create Your Add-On Product

  • Go to Products > Add New
  • Name it something like “Course Workbook” or “Coaching Call”
  • Set it as a Simple Product
  • Check Virtual and Downloadable
  • Set the price (e.g., $19)
  • Publish

💡 Keep this product hidden from your shop page (under “Product Visibility” settings).

🔹 Step 2: Build the Pre-Checkout Page in Elementor

  1. Go to Pages > Add New
  2. Name it “Special Offer” or “Upgrade Your Order”
  3. Click Edit with Elementor
  4. Add:
    • A compelling headline: “Want to Get Even More From This Course?”
    • A short description of your bump offer
    • Two buttons:
      • Yes, Add It! → Link to: pgsqlCopyEdit/cart/?add-to-cart=123,456 (Replace 123 with your course product ID, and 456 with your bump product ID)
      • No Thanks, Just the Course → pgsqlCopyEdit/cart/?add-to-cart=123

🔹 Step 3: Link Your Sales Page Button to This New Page

Instead of going straight to checkout, your main sales page should link to the pre-checkout bump page you just created.

That way:

  • You still control the full experience
  • You increase average order value
  • You don’t need the Pro version of anything!

✅ What You Should Have Now

By the end of this lesson, you should:

  • Have created a bonus product to act as your bump
  • Built a pre-checkout page that mimics an order bump
  • Linked your sales funnel to pass through this offer before checkout

Let me know if you want:

  • A template Elementor layout for this bump page
  • A copy-and-paste button shortcode
  • A quick video walkthrough

This is a great hack — and your students will love that they don’t need to upgrade to do it.
